Cameron Earns His Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do!!

Cameron has been taking classes at Adventure Tae Kwon Do for almost 3 years.    He had set a goal of being able to earn a black belt by the time he was 10 years old.    He has worked hard to be able to test every cycle and earn his belts along the way.   Unfortunately Adventure TKD is having to close, but since Cameron is so close to his black belt, Master Chad Johnson invited Cameron to try to test for his black belt before the school closed.
Cameron had only a week to train for the test, and some of the test would be done without any practice or preparation time.   He worked REALLY hard on perfecting his forms and take downs.   We helped him plan his board breaks and memorize his academic knowledge.
The black belt test is a very long, intense, and demanding test of both mental and physical endurance and perseverance.     Cameron had to demonstrate ALL his TKD knowledge without errors.   He had to perform his forms, sparring, self-defenses, takedowns, board breaks, and academic knowledge.   The black belt test is designed to push the tester to their limits in a short period of time so they can show they earn the rank of black belt.
Cameron felt especially frustrated during the board breaks.  He had little time to practice or plan his breaks before the test.   He was tired and upset, but he continued through the breaks and sparring and refused to give up and quit the test.    His determination allowed him to continue and earn his belt!   This was a truly difficult test for him, and we are SO proud of his accomplishment and dedication!

Here are many videos of the test.
Walking black/punch sequences:

Take Downs:

Cameron's 4-way Break. This was REALLY hard to do. Cameron had to endure hurting his hand on the third break to get to the end of the sequence.

Cameron's Power breaks. Cameron was very frustrated by the breaking techniques. He continues to try and had to collect himself several times. We stopped videoing to help cheer him on. After three more tries, he broke the board, but we missed it on video.

Sparring:  Cameron had to spar against several older students, many of which were black belts.

Cameron and Jack had to scissor kick for extended time:
